Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport

Altitude above sea level: 1,302 m / 4,269 ft.

Driving Time: Approx. 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Accommodation: Hotel Tibet or similar

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu,, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will be holding a “Nepal Sanctuary Treks” sign outside the terminal to greet you.

You will be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. After checking in and freshening up, our representative will meet you to give a detailed briefing on the upcoming itinerary, along with important safety guidelines and hygiene practices to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trek.

Day 02: Cultural Introductory Tour

9:00 AM: Guided Cultural Tour of Kathmandu Valley

Start your day with a guided cultural tour around Kathmandu Valley. Explore the vibrant Kathmandu with our expert guides, who will share insights into the area’s rich history.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka Durbar), a historical royal complex with temples, palaces, and shrines dating back to the 15th century. Key attractions include Kumari Ghar (the house of the living goddess) and Kasthamandap, built from a single tree.

Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

Next, head to Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, a sacred site for both Hinduism and Buddhism. Admire the stunning white dome and golden spire, while soaking in the serene atmosphere filled with incense and prayer wheels.

PM: Boudhanath Stupa

Visit the massive Boudhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a spiritual center for Tibetan culture, surrounded by prayer flags, monks, and devotees chanting ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’.

Pashupatinath Temple

Conclude your tour at the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples, located along the Bagmati River. Here, you can witness profound spiritual rituals, including the moving sight of open-air cremations, which hold deep cultural significance. After immersing yourself in this sacred experience, you will transfer back to your hotel.

Day 03: Flight to Pokhara- Drive to Birethathi- Trek Ulleri

Altitude above sea level: 1,960 m / 6,430 ft. .

Flight Duration: Approx. 25 minutes

Drive Duration: Approx. 1 hour

Hiking Duration : Approx. 4 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse lodge

After breakfast in Kathmandu, your Himalayan adventure begins with a scenic flight to Pokhara, followed by a picturesque drive to Birethanti—the starting point of your trek.

The trail leads you through lush rice terraces, serene forests, and charming Gurung villages. You’ll pass through Sudame, Hile, and Tikhedhunga, crossing suspension bridges and waterfalls along the way.

Enjoy a relaxing lunch in Sudame before continuing your journey deeper into the Annapurna foothills.

Day 04: Trek to Ghorepani

Altitude above sea level : 2,750 m / 9,022 ft. 

Hiking Duration: 5-6 hrs. Approx.

Accommodation: Tea house lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

After breakfast, you’ll begin your climb, first steeply and then more gradually, toward Nangethathi. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of Machhapuchhre (6,997 m / 22,956 ft), Hiunchuli (6,441 m / 21,132 ft), and Annapurna South (7,219 m / 23,684 ft).

As you approach Ghorepani, a village with distinctive blue-roofed houses, you’ll notice the area becoming more populated. Ghorepani, named for its role as a resting stop for merchants and their horses (‘ghora’ means horse, ‘pani’ means water), is the perfect place to relax before heading to Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise.

Day 05: Sunrise hike to Poonhill-Ghorepani - Dobato

Altitude above sea level: Dobato (3,420 m / 11,220 ft)
Hiking duration: Approx. 6–7 hrs.
Accommodation: Tea house lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Start your day early with a pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill (3,210m/10,531ft.), where you’ll be rewarded with spectacular sunrise views of majestic peaks like Gangapurna, Annapurna South, and Dhaulagiri. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, return to Ghorepani for a well-deserved breakfast.

Continue along a diverse trail featuring uphill, downhill, and flat stretches, surrounded by blooming rhododendrons during springtime. From Deurali, embark on a 45-minute hike to Mulde Peak Ridge, where panoramic vistas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges await.

After enjoying the views, descend to Dobato, where you will spend the night in a cozy tea house lodge.

(Optional: For an additional breathtaking experience, you can hike to Mulde View Point the following morning to catch another stunning sunrise.)

Day 06: Trek to Ghandruk

Altitude above sea level : Ghandruk (1,970 m / 6,463 ft), Mulde Peak (3,637 m / 11,932 ft)

Hiking Duration: 5 – 6 hours approx. 

Accommodation: Tea house lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Start early with a sunrise hike to Mulde Peak, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Annapurna’s majestic peaks, including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna III. After soaking in the vistas, descend to your lodge for breakfast.

Then, trek downhill through mystical rhododendron, oak, and pine forests, possibly spotting Langur monkeys along the way. Stop for lunch in Tadapani, before continuing your descent to Ghandruk, a charming Gurung village.

Ghandruk offers a glimpse into local mountain life and stunning views of the Annapurna massif. You’ll explore the traditional village, visit a cultural museum and monastery, and enjoy spectacular sunrise and sunset views.

Day 07: Trek to Syaulibazaar- Drive back to Pokhara

Altitude above sea level: Pokhara (825 m / 2,706 ft)
Hiking duration: Approx. 4 hours
Driving duration: Approx. 1.5 hours
Accommodation: Mount Kailash Resort or similar
Meals : Breakfast and Lunch

Begin your morning in Ghandruk with breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range, bathed in the golden light of the rising sun. Enjoy a wholesome breakfast while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and spectacular snow-capped peaks.

After breakfast, begin your scenic trek toward Syaulibazaar, passing through picturesque villages, terraced rice fields, and lush green landscapes. The hike offers a blend of natural beauty and local culture, making it a rewarding final walk in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Upon reaching Syaulibazaar, a private jeep will be waiting to transfer you back to Pokhara. After checking in at Mount Kailash Resort (or a similar hotel), you’ll have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 08: Sunrise at Sarangkot-Pokhara Sightseeing

Altitude above sea level: 1,600 m/5,249ft. (Sarangkot)

Driving duration to Sarangkot: Approx. 30 minutes

Hiking duration to World Peace Stupa: 45 minutes- 1 hour approx.

Accommodation: Mount Kailash Resort or similar

Wake up early in the morning to experience the breathtaking view of the Himalayas and sunrise. You will take a short, spectacular drive to Sarangkot. Sarangkot is located on the top of a hillock just north of Phewa Lake.  Gaze the mesmerizing scene of sunrise from the Sarangkot as the sun splashes hues of red on the Himalayan Range. You can get a marvelous view of the panoramic Range of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Ganesh Himal.

After spending time at Sarangkot, you will drive back to the hotel for breakfast, and depart for sightseeing in the prominent places of Pokhara.

Peace Pagoda (1,100 m) Hike:  You will take a scenic cruise on Phewa Lake. In this lake, you can involve yourself in various activities like boating, sailing, bird watching, etc. The image of the Fishtail Mountain in the crystal clear and calm water of Phewa Lake is something not to be missed. In the middle of the Lake, you will be landed on the island of the Barahi temple, which is the major attraction of the tour.

Further, you cross the lake by boat and get down to the shore and start hiking. The walking path goes through a dense forest filled with pine trees, Cyprus trees, wildflowers, and you will get chances to bird watching as well.  Upon reaching the pagoda, you can see the impressive gleaming-white World Peace Pagoda. The pagoda is a massive Buddhist stupa and is situated on top of a hill that offers panoramic views of the Annapurna range and Pokhara city. After finishing Stupa exploration, we take a drive to Devi’s fall and Gupteswor Cave.

Devi’s fall & Gupteswar Gupha (cave):  Further, you visit Devi’s fall, also locally known as Patale Chango which means “Underworld Waterfalls”. The waterfall directly goes into a deep canal underground, leaving no clue of its existence. With gushing water splashing and making its way through the rocks, the waterfall takes its real form in the monsoon season.

Then you visit Gupteswor Cave, located close to Devis Falls. Admire the Gupteshwar cave for its different natural forms made from limestone deposits. As you enter the cave, you can see the water dripping and the peaceful atmosphere of the cave will definitely soothe your senses. You can see shrines, Shiva temple, and a very remarkable view of the waterfall inside the cave.

Tibetan Refugee Camp: Then you drive towards the Tibetan refugee camp in Hyangja. This village is surrounded by colorful prayer flags and reflects Tibetan culture all over. Home to over 200 Tibetan monks, you can get a glimpse into their lifestyle.

After touring around prominent sites, you will be transferred safely back to your hotel.

Day 09: Drive to Tansen

Altitude above sea level: 1,350 m / 4,429 ft. (Tansen)
Driving duration: Approx. 4-5 hours
Accommodation: Hotel Srinagar
Meals: Breakfast

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, begin your day with a scenic drive to Tansen, a serene hill town nestled in the hills of western Nepal. Perched at an altitude of 1,350 m / 4,429 ft, Tansen is well-known for its breathtaking mountain views, cool climate, and cultural richness.

This hidden gem is famed for its Palpali Dhaka fabric — a hand-woven traditional textile used to craft Dhaka topis, shawls, and a variety of ethnic garments. The town is also a center for finely crafted metalwork, making it a must-visit for lovers of local art and heritage.

Upon arrival, spend your afternoon leisurely exploring the historic streets of Tansen, where beautifully preserved Newar-style houses line the alleys. Dive into the charm of this ancient hill town as you admire its authentic architecture, browse exquisite local handicrafts, and experience the rich cultural atmosphere.

Day 10: Drive to Lumbini

Altitude above sea level: 150 m / 492 ft.
Driving duration: Approx. 2 hours
Accommodation: Lumbini Buddha Garden Resort
Meal included: Breakfast

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Lumbini, the revered birthplace of Lord Buddha. Upon arrival, check in to Lumbini Buddha Garden Resort, a peaceful retreat nestled near the sacred site. Take some time to relax, freshen up, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure—whether you choose to unwind at the resort or begin exploring the spiritual serenity of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Day 11: Lumbini Sightseeing

Altitude above sea level: 150 m / 492 ft.
Accommodation: Lumbini Buddha Garden Resort
Meal included: Breakfast

After breakfast, you will begin a meaningful exploration of Lumbini, the sacred birthplace of Prince Siddhartha, who later became Gautam Buddha, a global symbol of peace and compassion. Your visit starts at the Maya Devi Temple, the exact site where Buddha was born. Inside the temple, you’ll see the marker stone believed to pinpoint the exact birthplace, along with the Ashoka Pillar, erected over 2,000 years ago by Emperor Ashoka to commemorate this holy site.

Nearby lies the Puskarni Pond, where Queen Maya Devi is said to have bathed before giving birth. As you walk through the peaceful grounds, you’ll experience the tranquil atmosphere that continues to draw pilgrims and visitors from around the world.

Next, you’ll explore the Monastic Zone, home to beautifully constructed monasteries built by countries such as Thailand, Germany, and Nepal. Each monastery reflects its country’s unique cultural and architectural interpretation of Buddhism. Walking through this international zone offers a deeper understanding of how diverse cultures embrace and express the teachings of Buddha through art, prayer, and spiritual practice.

This day in Lumbini offers not just sightseeing, but a chance for quiet reflection in one of the most spiritually significant places on Earth.

Day 12: Drive to Chitwan for wilderness safari

Altitude above sea level: 415 m / 1,362 ft.
Driving duration: Approx. 4–5 hours
Accommodation: Jungle Villa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll depart for Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s most renowned and scenic wildlife reserves. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its rich biodiversity, featuring dense forests, grasslands, marshes, and a network of rivers and creeks. The park is home to over 50 species of mammals and more than 450 species of birds, making it a paradise for nature and wildlife lovers.

Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by a hotel representative and welcomed to Jungle Villa Resort. After check-in and a short orientation about the day’s schedule, you’ll have some time to settle into your room and relax.

Following a freshly prepared lunch, you’ll set off on a Tharu Village Walk, led by local naturalists. This guided tour offers a cultural immersion into the life of the Tharu community, known for their distinctive traditions, architecture, and harmonious relationship with the natural environment.

Later in the afternoon, unwind on the resort’s deck with stunning views of the river. Enjoy a refreshing drink from the bar as you observe the local wildlife and birds from a distance. Be sure not to miss the spectacular sunset, painting the sky above the jungle in golden hues. Your day ends with a delicious dinner served at the resort, offering the perfect close to your first day in Chitwan.

Day 13: Jungle Activities

Accommodation: Jungle Villa

Begin your day with an early wake-up call, signaling the start of an exciting day full of jungle adventures. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, head out for a peaceful canoe ride on the Rapti River. As you glide along in a traditional Patela boat, keep your eyes open for a variety of birds, crocodiles, and other wildlife along the riverbanks — it’s a serene way to connect with nature.

After the canoeing experience, return to the lodge for a delicious lunch prepared by skilled chefs, offering a taste of local and international flavors.

In the afternoon, get ready for a thrilling Jeep Safari inside Chitwan National Park, lasting around 2 to 3 hours. This exciting journey takes you deep into the jungle, where you may spot rhinoceroses, spotted deer, wild boars, and — if fortune favors you — even the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights into the park’s ecosystem and wildlife.

As the sun sets, immerse yourself in the rich local traditions with a captivating Tharu cultural performance, featuring the energetic and rhythmic stick dance that celebrates the heritage of the native Tharu people.

Conclude your memorable day with a satisfying dinner, reflecting on the unforgettable wildlife encounters and cultural experiences that made the day truly special.

Day 14: Flight back to Kathmandu

Driving duration HTL – Bharatpur Airport: Approx. 35 minutes
Flight duration (Bharatpur to Kathmandu): Approx. 25 minutes
Accommodation: Hotel Tibet or similar
Meals : Breakfast

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bharatpur Airport for your short flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in at hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the surroundings at your own pace.

 

Day 15: Final Departure

Meal: Breakfast

As your unforgettable journey comes to an end, it’s time to fly back home, cherishing all the incredible memories of Nepal. A representative from Nepal Sanctuary Treks will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Please make sure to check in 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight for a smooth departure.
