Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu airport

Altitude above sea level: 1,302 m / 4,269 ft.
Driving Time: Approximately 30 minutes (depending on traffic)
Accommodation: Hotel Tibet or similar

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative holding a “Nepal Sanctuary Treks” placard.

You will then be transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. After checking in and freshening up, our representative will meet you to provide a detailed briefing on your upcoming itinerary, along with important safety guidelines and hygiene practices to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trek.

Day 02: Cultural Introductory Tour and Trek preparation

9:00 AM – Guided Cultural Tour of Kathmandu Valley
Start your day with a guided cultural tour of Kathmandu Valley, exploring the city with expert guides who will share insights into its rich history and heritage.

Kathmandu Durbar Square
Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka Durbar), a royal historical complex filled with temples, palaces, and shrines dating back to the 15th century. Highlights include Kumari Ghar, the residence of the living goddess, and Kasthamandap, an architectural marvel constructed from a single tree.

Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)
Next, head to Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a sacred site for both Hinduism and Buddhism. Admire the striking white dome and golden spire while soaking in the serene atmosphere of incense, prayer wheels, and panoramic city views.

Boudhanath Stupa
In the afternoon, visit the massive Boudhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and spiritual center of Tibetan culture. Witness colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind, monks performing rituals, and devotees chanting “Om Mani Padme Hum.”

Pashupatinath Temple
Conclude your tour at Pashupatinath Temple, one of Hinduism’s most sacred sites, situated along the Bagmati River. Here, observe profound spiritual rituals, including the moving sight of open-air cremations, which hold deep cultural and religious significance. After this immersive experience, you will return to your hotel.

Day 03: Flight to Pokhara – Drive to Lumle –Trek to Birethanthi

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a 25-minute scenic flight to Pokhara, then drive through the picturesque Seti River valley to Lumle, the trek starting point. The trail passes through lush Annapurna foothills, terraced fields, and traditional villages like Tomijung, famous for its beehives.

Cross the Modi River via suspension bridge and continue to Sanctuary Lodge near Birethanti, a perfect base to relax and enjoy Annapurna’s natural beauty.

Day 04: Trek to Ghandruk village

Altitude above sea level: 2,012 m/6,601 ft. Ghandruk

Hiking Duration: Approx. 5–6 hours (10.48km/6.51mi)

Ascent: 962m/3,156ft. 

Descent: 91m/299ft.

Accommodation: Himalaya Lodge

After a hearty breakfast, set out on your trek through scattered small farms. Following the Modi Khola river, you’ll make your way uphill with incredible views of Mt. Machhapuchhre leading the journey. The path winds through vibrant rice terraces and thick forest as you climb the valley toward the mountains.

By early afternoon, you’ll reach the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk, where a warm lunch will be served. Take in the stunning panoramic vistas of the Annapurna Massif as you unwind.

The Himalaya Lodge, a delightful 19th-century Gurung village home, offers a welcoming reception area, a comfortable dining room, and a cozy open fireplace.

Day 05: Trek to Landruk

Altitude above sea level: 1,565 m/5,135 ft. Landruk

Hiking Duration: Approx. 4 hours (5.46 km/3.39 mi)

Ascent: 401 m/1,316 ft.

Descent: 807 m/2,648 ft.

Accommodation: La Bee Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, begin your hike toward Landruk. Leaving Ghandruk village, the trail drops steeply to the banks of the Modi River. After crossing the suspension bridge, you’ll ascend steadily into Landruk village. Along the way, take in sweeping views of the Annapurna range and observe local honey hunters scaling cliffs with ropes to harvest wild honey.

Lunch will be served upon arrival at the lodge. Afterward, you may unwind in your room while soaking in magnificent mountain scenery or join a guided tour to explore the village.

Day 06: Trek to Majgaon

Altitude above sea level: 1,400 m / 4,593 ft.- Majgaon

Hike Duration: Approx. 4-5 hours (9 km / 5.6 miles)

Descent: 165 m / 541 ft.

Accommodation: Gurung Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Wake up to a misty morning with Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre rising majestically above the valley. After a hearty breakfast, begin today’s trek along the hillside. The trail has gentle uphill and downhill sections, passing through small hamlets and countryside.

You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to take a walk to nearby villages.

The lodge features tribal-style houses and beautiful gardens on the edge of Majgaun village. Enjoy mountain views from your room, relax after the trek, or spend time in the peaceful garden.

Day 07: Trek to Phedi via Dhampus & Drive to Pokhara

Altitude above sea level: 850 m / 2,789 ft.-Pokhara
Driving Duration: Approx. 1 hour
Hike Duration: Approx. 4 hours (4.3 km / 2.6 mi)
Descent: 270 m / 886 ft.
Accommodation: Temple Tree Resort or similar

After breakfast, begin your hike through forests of oak, rhododendron, and silver birch. Enjoy stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung.

The trail soon levels out before descending to Dhampus (1,554 m / 5,099 ft) and the Basanta Lodge. Basanta Lodge is a traditional Gurung village house. Its garden offers superb views of Fishtail Peak and the Annapurna range. Enjoy a delicious lunch here before continuing to Dhampus.

Next, descend to Phedi, passing more villages and terraced fields. At Phedi, a private vehicle will transfer you back to Pokhara.

After hotel check-in, spend the afternoon at leisure. Consider a tranquil boat trip on beautiful Phewa Lake. You can enjoy boating, sailing, and bird watching. Don’t miss the stunning reflection of Fishtail Mountain in the calm waters of Phewa Lake. You can also visit Barahi Temple, located on a small island in the lake.

Day 08: Drive to Damauli

Altitude above sea level: 349 m / 1,145 ft. – Damauli
Driving Duration: Approx. 1.5 hours
Rafting Duration: Approx. 2-3 hours
Accommodation: Seti River Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After an early breakfast, take a short drive to Damauli. Upon arrival, meet our experienced rafting crew for a safety briefing before lunch.

The Seti River is remote with no road access, keeping the river and valley pristine. As you float down, enjoy views of village life along the banks and spot many bird species.

A picnic lunch is served on a sandy beach during the journey. You will encounter two small rapids, each no longer than 165 ft (50 m) and rated grade 2 or less.

The rest of the trip is a peaceful floating experience. Upon reaching camp, settle into your safari-style tent.

Day 09: Drive to Chitwan

Altitude above sea level: 415 m /1,362 ft. Chitwan
Driving duration: Approx. 2-3 hours
Accommodation: Barahi Jungle Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After a hearty breakfast, you will drive to Chitwan. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and a short briefing about the program and facilities. Then, rooms will be assigned.

1:00 PM: Lunch is served at Banyan Café or by the pool.

3:30 PM: Enjoy an afternoon boat safari with a unique sundowner experience. Float downstream the Rapti River toward the park’s western boundary formed by the Himalayan Narayani. This safari lasts approx. 2 hours.

6:30 PM: Watch a traditional cultural dance performance. Choose between the Tharu Cultural Dance or the Kumal Cultural Dance, showcasing the skills and traditions of local farmers.

8:00 PM: Dinner is served at Banyan Café or by the pool.

Day 10: Jungle activities

Accommodation: Barahi Jungle Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

6:30 AM – Jeep Safari with Breakfast in the Jungle
(Duration: Approx. 3.5 to 4 hours)
Start the jeep safari by crossing the Rapti River on the Patela boat from Bhimle army check post. Our naturalists choose one of three routes based on recent animal sightings:

  • Route 1: Bhimle post – Sukhibhar post – Kasara (park headquarters)

  • Route 2: Bhimle post – Reu River – Surung Khola

  • Route 3: Bhimle post – Reu River – Khoria Muhan Post

Breakfast is served during the safari at a scenic, safe spot selected by the naturalist.

Note: Jeep safaris are prohibited during the monsoon season (June–September), sometimes extending to October.

After the safari, relax by the pool or enjoy spa facilities until lunchtime.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Lunch at Banyan Café or by the pool.

3:00 PM – Walking Safari or Village Walk

  • Walking Safari: Explore the national park with an expert naturalist to spot wildlife, birds, and plants. (Approx. 2-3 hours)

  • OR Short Village Walk: Experience the daily life of the Tharu community with an experienced guide. (Approx. 2 hours)

7:00 PM – Cultural Dance Performance
Enjoy either the Tharu Cultural Dance or Kumal Cultural Dance, showcasing traditional skills and dances from local farmers.

8:00 PM – Dinner
Dinner is served at Banyan Café or by the pool.

Day 11: Flight to Kathmandu

Driving duration: Hotel to Bharatpur Airport – 50 mins approx.
Flight duration: 25 mins approx.
Accommodation: Hotel Ambassador or similar
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, transfer to Bharatpur Airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some free time to relax. You can shop for souvenirs or unwind after your unforgettable adventure.

Day 12: Final Departure

As your unforgettable journey comes to an end, it’s time to fly back home, cherishing all the incredible memories of Nepal. A representative from Nepal Sanctuary Treks will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Please make sure to check in 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight for a smooth departure.

Can children do trek with their families in Nepal?

Yes, children can join trek, as there are no age restrictions. Generally, children acclimatize well to altitude, but our travel expert will reach out to you beforehand to provide personalise advice tailored to your family’s needs. How much weight do I have to carry or how much will my porter carry?

You can bring as much as clothes you want but extra luggage is not required for the trek, you can leave your extra luggage in Kathmandu or Pokhara’s hotel. For the trek you can carry enough clothes you require in your backpack or carry only the camera, water bottle few clothes etc in your backpack. The potter can carry your extra duffle bag clothes which can weigh up to  30kg. However the local domestic flights (Lukla, Jomsom, Juphal, Simikot) allows maximum of 15kg per person including carry-on baggage.

What medical facilities are there on Annapurna Comfort Trek?

In case of an emergency, you need to get evacuated by helicopter to Kathmandu, you need to take proper care of your health. Anyway, you will find small clinics along the trek. There are major hospitals in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan. However, you need to bring your medicine (if any) and a first aid box will be provided by Nepal Sanctuary Treks, also your guide will be trained for first aid in case of emergency.

Can I rent or buy trekking equipment in Nepal?

Yes, you can rent or purchase trekking gear in Kathmandu or Pokhara, including items like sleeping bags, down jackets, and trekking poles. Make sure to check the quality and condition of rented equipment. For instance, sleeping bags are available for rent at rates ranging from USD 1 to USD 1.50 per day.
