The Khopra Ridge Trek temperature varies by season and altitude, with warm days at lower elevations and very cold conditions at higher points. In spring (March to May), daytime temperatures usually range from 8°C to 15°C, while nights can drop to between -5°C and 5°C.
During the monsoon season (June to August), the trek is warmer, with daytime temperatures of 15°C to 25°C and nighttime temperatures between 5°C and 15°C. Autumn (September to November) offers mild trekking conditions, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C, but nights can fall to -5°C to 10°C. Winter (December to February) is the coldest period, with daytime temperatures between 0°C and 10°C and nighttime temperatures dropping sharply to -15°C to -5°C.
Altitude plays an important role in temperature changes along the Khopra Ridge Trek. Lower-elevation villages such as Ghandruk and Swanta are significantly warmer, especially in spring and autumn, when daytime temperatures often reach 20°C to 25°C.
However, higher areas experience much colder conditions. At Khayer Lake (4,665 meters), which is usually visited as a day trip from the ridge, temperatures can be 5°C to 10°C colder than at Khopra Ridge itself, and strong winds frequently create severe wind chill even on clear, sunny days.
