Gokyo Lakes Trek Temperature: The Gokyo Lakes Trek experiences significant temperature variations due to its high altitude, with the lakes situated above 4,700 meters. In spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), daytime temperatures typically range from 5°C to 15°C, while nights can drop to -10°C to 0°C, making mornings and evenings particularly cold.
During summer (June–August), daytime temperatures are milder, ranging from 8°C to 20°C, with nights between 0°C to 10°C. However, heavy rainfall and slippery trails can affect trekking conditions during this season. Winter (December–February) brings extreme cold, with nighttime temperatures falling as low as -25°C, requiring proper high-altitude gear for safety and comfort.
Temperature decreases by roughly 6°C for every 1,000 meters of altitude gained, making the Gokyo Lakes significantly colder than lower trekking regions, especially at night. Additionally, strong winds at exposed areas like Gokyo Ri and open ridgelines can make it feel 5–10°C colder, so wind chill is an important factor to consider when planning your trek.
